Craps explained

The game of Craps may look a little complicated at first glance, but this page will help you better understand the objective of the game and how the various bets are placed.

How to play

Like all casino games, you start by making a bet. Then, two dice are rolled. The first roll is called ‘come-out’ and whoever is throwing the dice is called the ‘shooter’. If the result of the first roll is 2, 3, 7, 11 or 12 then the round ends, winning bets are paid, and the game begins again; if however the result is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 then this is called a ‘point’. A marker will be placed on the table to indicate it, so that players don’t forget. In this case the game continues and the shooter will have to try to get the same point number before rolling a total of 7. These are the basics of game. Let’s find out more.

How to bet

To place your bet, first click on the chips you see at the edge of the table and then on the green area of the table which contains the type of bet you want to make; red areas indicate that you can’t make that kind of bet. After betting, click on the Roll button to roll the dice. Winning bets are paid accordingly, while losing bets will be automatically removed from the table.

Types of bets

Pass Line

It’s the primary bet, which almost all players of Craps place on the table. It’s an even money bet. When you bet on the Pass Line for the come-out, you win with 7 or 11 (Natural) but lose with 2, 3 or 12 (craps). If a ‘point’ is rolled, and then again before a 7, then Pass Line bets win. If 7 come out after a ‘point’, Pass Line bets lose. If you understand how Pass Line works, you can start playing online Craps.

Don’t Pass Line

This bet is almost the opposite of the Pass Line. If the result of the come-out rollis 2 or 3 and you bet on Don’t Pass Line, you win; if you bet on 7 or 11, however, you lose. 12 is a draw. If a ‘point’ has been rolled, Don’t Pass bets win if a 7 is rolled before the ‘point’ comes out again.

Buying Odds

Once a ‘point’ has been rolled, you can choose to bet on ‘Odds’ up to twice the amount of you initial Pass Line bet. ‘Odds’ are side bets based on whether the ‘point’ will be rolled before the 7.

It’s the same as the Pass Line bet but can be placed at any time during the game.

Don’t Come

Don’t Come bets win if 2 or 3 is rolled and lose with 7 or 11. Any other result is called ‘Come point’. You win if a 7 is rolled before the Come point, vice versa you lose.
